Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. From Crossrail – Europe’s largest civil engineering project– to investment in exceptional stations and major programmes of electrification, we're involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures that this country has ever seen.

The Anglia route which comprises over 1,700 miles of track from London Liverpool street station to Norwich in the east and Cambridge in the west, the North London line from Gospel Oak to Barking East, and Essex Thameside from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness. With over 63.6 million passenger journeys, Liverpool Street is the third busiest railway station in Britain and the route is well connected with two airports, Stansted and Southend. Crossrail, when completed in 2019, will run from Shenfield to Liverpool Street and connect to Heathrow.

The railways are always in the news. Why is easy to answer - 1.7bn passenger journeys each year, a gateway to international trade via airports and ports, an impetus for new homes and jobs. The railway plays a vital role in boosting the regional and national economy and our lives.

We are also embarking on investing more than £2bn in running the railway in our region over the next five years. Network Rail are building a bigger and better railway. To help us to deliver this, we need a media relations manager to support delivering this meaningful programme for a 12 months’ maternity cover as of mid-January.

There are many reasons why joining as a Media Relations Manager will be exciting and rewarding. Over the course of your working week you will:

  • Promote our investment programmes, our apprentice and D&I schemes
  • You’ll build safety campaigns – some recognizable campaigns being “Check before you travel”
  • You will be responsible for building key relationships with the trade press and key journalists

Do you have experience of promoting investment and community programmes? Do you enjoy supporting Diversity & Inclusion programmes? Are you passionate about crafting compelling campaigns and press releases? Would you be dedicated in building key relationships with journalists and trade press? If so we would love you to join our communications team.

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: £32,256- £36,288.

Network Rail is required to comply with UK Government standards when carrying out pre-employment checks for all new starters; this includes a basic criminal record check.  In addition to the basic criminal record check, in accordance with the UK Government we are also required to verify your identity, right to work in the UK and previous three years employment history.
