Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to turning creativity into careers. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.
We are seeking an individual to join our award-winning Marketing and Communications department as its new Press Officer. The Press Officer will be responsible for building and consolidating AUB’s media relations, generating excellent press coverage and utilising editorial and journalistic skills.
This exciting opportunity includes writing and distributing press releases and inviting press to exhibitions and events, campus visits and interview opportunities. Media plans will be required to support planned marketing campaigns and proactive media opportunities are to be sought and maximised.
The Press Officer will need to be a self-starter, dynamic, enthusiastic and a creative individual who works across the university, seeking out stories and turning AUB activity into excellent press coverage. They must keep abreast of emerging digital and traditional media trends and build strong relationships with local, national and trade journalists. The Press Officer will play a leading role in generating and writing alumni case studies.
You will have strong written skills, and will also be asked to help with writing and proof-reading copy for a range of collateral. The successful candidate will be happy working independently and as part of a team. Previous PR agency experience would be advantageous. You will hold a relevant degree and ideally a communications related qualification.
