A former journalist or senior media professional with experience of working in a busy and high-profile press office, you will use your expertise to help us build a movement of people who support the fight for our world.

You will ensure our voice is the loudest, most respected and reliable in helping to save the planet and provide a future where people and nature thrive. We will look to you to take responsibility for helping to deliver and shape our media strategy. This will involve ensuring we land extensive, bold and relevant coverage across the media, in support of our advocacy, campaigns and fundraising work.

A journalist or senior media professional from a busy and high profile press office, you will help amplify our voice in the media by managing the news team, building relationships with key stakeholders and working with colleagues across the global organisation to find and develop agenda-changing stories.

You will take responsibility for delivering and helping to shape our news strategy. You will oversee the day to day running of the press office, overseeing the development of media materials, process documents and evaluation reports. You will lead on some of our biggest campaigns and activities for news, and support in managing reputation risk.

You will be confident in distilling complicated scientific subjects into accessible, understandable language. You will also have demonstrable experience of travelling abroad for press trips and will be available to accompany journalists overseas to report on our work.

Senior Media Manager – Requirements

You will be able to multi-task and are comfortable managing deadlines and rapidly changing priorities too.

You will be able to mobilise, inspire and develop four direct reports and have experience of managing a team to deliver outstanding results.

An excellent relationship builder, you will possess a wealth of influential contacts and strong connections with journalists

You will be an excellent writer, who can cut through technical information and translate science into compelling stories for a wide range of audiences.

You will have experience of managing reputation risk.

Who are we?

WWF believes in a future where people and nature thrive.

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
