Senior Media Officer – Charity

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Media Officer to join a leading UK healthcare charity. As Senior Media Officer, you will work alongside the Head of Communications and Marketing to maximise media coverage for the charity through national, regional and social media, helping to position the charity as experts in its area. You will raise the profile through strategy development, proactive placement of news stories and leading social media. This is a really exciting time to join the charity as they are going through a real period of growth.

Your responsibilities:

• Supporting and developing the media strategy, identifying media opportunities and building relationships with trade, national and regional journalists
• Handling press enquiries, reactively managing issues and making most out of opportunities to raise the profile of the charity
• Working with the communications, fundraising and research teams to maximise coverage
• Supporting development and delivery of media plans for the charity’s events and campaigns
• Supporting with media monitoring

You will demonstrate:

• Solid experience working in a press office environment
• Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to translate scientific research into accessible stories
• Political awareness and the ability to handle complex and potentially sensitive situations
• High levels of creativity
• Good digital experience and the ability to use social media channels
