Global Social Media Community Engagement Officer

Slimming World is the UK’s leading weight management organisation, helping members lose weight in our 19,000 groups around the UK every week. The company has experienced consistent growth each year for the past ten years, taking the brand to a clear leadership position in the UK and Ireland.

The successful applicant for this newly created in-house role within our Social Media team will support the growth of Slimming World’s expanding social media reach by generating, and participating in, positive conversations across our global network.  Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and this is a fantastic opportunity for a role which will see you engaging positively with Slimming World’s followers to communicate our brand, philosophy and programme.

The right candidate will be passionate about cultivating and nurturing relationships across our social media channels, as well as supporting teams around the business to manage their own social media profiles effectively.  A strong protector for the brand’s reputation, you will have a flair for spotting a potential issue, responding to it and preventing it from developing into a potential crisis.

Committed to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in social media, you will also work within the content team, ensuring effective targeting of key communities and influence the use of written, visual and video content to drive Slimming World’s message globally.

  • are a true social advocate who understands the role social media plays in creating affiliation and strong communities
  • have excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • appreciate the differences in audiences across various platforms and are confident in altering approach accordingly, while retaining our brand’s unique tone of voice
  • enjoy problem solving, have bags of initiative and a good grasp of how to influence others
  • have great time management skills with the ability to confidently prioritise and change direction or respond quickly when necessary
  • have some experience of handling crises and remaining calm under pressure
  • are passionate about protecting Slimming World’s hard-earned reputation
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience working in social media for a busy brand.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends.
