Media Officer
Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy
£37,250 – £40,678
London, SW1
This is media and press relations at the heart of Whitehall – at an unprecedented time for government communications. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy leads the Government’s relationship with business as it builds an economy that works for all. This is a chance to deliver our communications strategy during and after our withdrawal from the European Union. It’s a once-in-a-career opportunity.
Our work is built on an ambitious modern Industrial Strategy driving innovation and investment in UK markets to ensure the economy is fit for the future. One day you might be announcing a significant new government policy; the next you might be firefighting an attack on the Government’s reputation that’s within our remit, such as energy security, climate change, mergers and takeovers, workers’ rights, science and innovation.
So, you’ll be responsible for finding ever-more innovative ways to connect with businesses, workers and the public, and build a vivid picture of our work both here and abroad. You’ll also regularly advise ministers, other departments and senior stakeholders; brief journalists; and help to develop our long-term communications strategies.
It’s a challenge for a proven communications expert who’s politically savvy and positive under pressure. A blossoming creative force, you’ll also champion modern methods and bring an impressive portfolio of written, video and digital content.
In return, there’s a range of benefits to enjoy, including a Civil Service pension and opportunities to develop both new skills and your career.

We deliver around 70 per cent of the recruitment volume across the Civil Service and aspire to be the recruitment partner of choice for all Civil Service departments, agencies and approved non-departmental public bodies.
