The role:

This role is to act as a digital consultant within Portland’s UK Corporate Group.

The role involves managing digital work streams on a number of significant accounts including iconic brands such as Aviva, EDF Energy and Heathrow. Working within an integrated communications team, you will develop digital and social media strategies; taking responsibility for full tactical implementation of client activity; providing high quality client servicing, managing junior staff and managing client expectations.

You will understand digital communications and how it can work with other communications disciplines (media, public affairs, internal comms etc) to make a real impact.

You will also contribute to new business, helping to identify and cultivate prospects, and work on pitches and proposals.

You will be expected to work with others across the company to deliver the best possible results for clients, providing an integrated service and making the best of all Portland’s capabilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the team to manage and deliver communications strategies from formulation through to execution aligning them with the client’s key business objectives.
  • Provide creative and strategic services to clients, such as, change management, strategic planning, determining business objectives, data analysis, site content creation, implementation, testing, and online outreach.
  • Awareness of all major and emerging social channels — including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, Snapchat, Whatsapp and LinkedIn — and how they serve different user needs.
  • Create evaluations of your campaigns using native and paid for analytic tools.
  • Act as the day to day point of contact for clients.
  • Run paid for campaigns across multiple channels from concept through to delivery and evaluation.
  • Develop community engagement strategies, oversee content publishing operations and monitor and respond to online conversations.
  • Write razor-sharp copy for email, web pages, social media, SMS and more.
  • Input into new business pitches, proposals and presentations.
  • Keep track of impending deadlines and ensuring all work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Direct and mentor junior account members; providing quality control and oversee team assignments.
  • Establish professional relationships with colleagues and clients alike.

Qualifications, skills and competencies:

You must:

  • Have a minimum 2 years of digital communications experience (this could include running digital/social campaigns, experience with search, analytics, email, or paid social). You will have hands-on experience with campaign development, optimisation and performance analysis.
  • Have experience working with social media campaign management.
  • Have experience writing external facing copy.
  • Have experience managing external professional relationships.
  • Have an awareness of all major and emerging social channels — including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, Snapchat, and LinkedIn — and how they serve different user needs.
  • Have the ability to keep to deadlines even in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Be an open communicator, happy working in a flexible team format.
  • Be social media savvy – happy with blogger liaison, outreach copy, content calendars and awareness/ practiced at working on multiple platforms.
  • Have a track record of delivering quantifiable results.
  • Be a srategic thinker, metrics-oriented and an eye for creative development.

Desirable:

  • Understand the value of targeted bulk emails and you may have used software like Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, etc.
