A highly reputable and professional Trade Association is looking for a Press & Public Affairs Officer to join their growing Communications Team and work closely alongside their Innovations team.

The role itself will be a 50/50 split between Public Affairs and Media Relations and the successful candidate will get the chance to throw themselves into Crisis Communications and Stakeholder Engagement. This is a great role for someone who is keen to move in-house from agency or has a background of working with trade organisations who wants to take a step up in their career. You will also have the opportunity to expand the team and provide the association with strong, well-thought out Corporate messaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver the development of content (e.g. think-tank research, polling surveys) for public affairs and press activity
  • Manage and deliver social media content (animations, infographics) and any online media buying activity to promote events, webinars, & consultations on key websites
  • Work with external organisations to manage and deliver Westminster panel events on policy issues related to the association
  • Identify and organise speaking opportunities at industry and policy events organised by external parties that are relevant
  • Support the Head of Press & Public Affairs to ensure that messaging, including lines to take (proactive & reactive), reflects the role and contribution of the wider network’s Press & Public Affairs Strategy

Requirements:

  • A creative, enthusiastic, self-starter who is keen to take ownership of this role
  • The ability to understand complex technical and regulatory issues and communicate them in an easy to understand and accessible way.
  • Strong understanding of what makes a media story and experience of dealing with trade and national media, broadcast, online and print.
  • Strong written skills to produce high quality press releases and copy for publications or briefings. Ability to tailor quality writing to different audiences.
  • Proven ability to undertake media engagement strategies and strengthen media relations in a strategic manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to manage own time to deliver to deadlines.
  • Social media management skills, including for paid/sponsored content, across Twitter and LinkedIn.
