This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious communications professional to broaden their experience and use their expertise to create a positive impact on our media strategy.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The agency is made up of c.1300 staff working across two main centres across the UK and abroad.

We are currently recruiting for the role of News and Digital Specialist, which will be based in the News, Digital and Content (NDC) team of our Communications Division.

The successful candidate will raise the Agency’s profile within the media and social media, by delivering an effective communications and reputation strategy and creatively managing our website and social media channels. You will advise senior managers and specialist staff on how we can enhance our reputation, promote our public health mission, and deliver our business priorities. You will also promote the principles of good content design to Agency colleagues.

To be a success in the role you will need an excellent news sense, with the ability to write content and tell engaging stories that convey to our various audiences how we deliver our wider public health mission. You will also know when to respond quickly to negative issues to limit potentially damaging media and social media coverage, by acting as Agency spokesperson to brief the media or arrange media broadcast interviews when needed.

You will have great networking skills and the ability to forge strong and trusted relationships with subject matter experts in the agency, as well as with external stakeholders on topical media issues.
