Job Details

Based in London, this role will take a “second in command” position alongside the agency’s Founder, giving huge scope for you to make a real impact to both clients and the agency itself.

About Us:

We are an insights-driven marketing communications agency that connects people to ideas.  Those ideas can be entire business propositions, new visions of an industry or the creation of pioneering insights and products.

Anything that is innovating or disrupting a market gets us excited.  We are an antidote to the fluffy and superficial. An antidote to sterile thinking and inflexibility. An antidote to the overstuffed yet underwhelming. An antidote to PR for PR’s sake.

Seth Godin described our approach to PR perfectly:

"Public relations is the art of telling your story to the right people in the right way.  It willingly turns its back on publicity that seeks ink at all costs ("as long as they spell my name right") in exchange for the marketers reliance on building an engine for an idea."

We are an independent agency, able to be more nimble than other larger integrated agencies. With offices in London and Bristol we are able to benefit from greater diversity of thought, more varied ideas and different viewpoints. This ensures greater creativity amongst the team and in what we deliver.

Our Clients:

We are proud to work with innovators and disruptors across a range of sectors (LinkedIn, John Lewis, Calm app, Hays, Central Working, Veuve Clicquot, Quantcast to name a few).

They know we make a difference. They recognise the impact our work has for them. They keep coming back to us because they recognise the value of our focus on impact - It's in our DNA.

The Role:

  • Lead large and complex pieces of client work and to develop a portfolio of approximately £1m per annum.
  • Originate new retained corporate briefs.
  • Provide senior counsel and strategic advice to clients.
  • Lead in the development of creative communications strategies for diverse clients and issues, ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Support the growth and development of the corporate team through high quality line management of senior members of the team, identifying growth opportunities and taking an active role in marketing activities.
  • Run profitable accounts which deliver high quality work for clients.
  • Build internal and external networks with colleagues, opinion leaders, journalists, professional associations, online influencers and other relevant third-parties.

About You:

  • This role requires someone able to think strategically while remaining hands-on with client work and team development.
  • The ideal person will be super-positive and enthusiastic, who constantly pushes for quality and improvement, while motivating and inspiring others.
  • There is an expectation this person will have a proven track record in revenue growth, with a strong commercial nose and focus on new business development.
  • You will be an expert in your field with the ability to develop and deliver impactful communications strategies and campaigns, generating excellent results and giving strong strategic direction.
  • Through line management and on-the-job training, you will develop the skills and expertise of colleagues and help to cultivate a culture of continuous learning through your interest in new techniques and best practice observed across the industry.
  • At least eight years’ experience, gained in an agency environment.
  • Proactive, creative and detail-driven.
  • Proven experience of leading high-profile B2B accounts
  • Ambitious and enjoys working with clever people in a growing consultancy.
  • Significant consultancy and client management experience.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and spot opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of, and interest in, the UK communications landscape.
  • Credibility to earn the respect of peers and team members.
  • Gravitas to operate at the most senior level.

The Offer:

  • Excellent salary to reflect the senior level of the role and the expertise you will bring.
  • Potential for earn-in on share options.
  • Independence and autonomy.
  • Join and lead a passionate team who love their work.
  • You get to focus on delivering real impact for clients, not just filling a fat coverage book.
  • This is a small agency that already punches well above its weight and is growing fast – you can grow with it.

Our People & Values:

There are key attributes that we look for in all candidates that join the team – no matter the level:

  • Ideas-first approach: A genuine excitement in discovering new concepts and ideas which can be passed onto clients, the wider team and utilized at work. We ensure that learning is embedded in every day.
  • Ambition: To succeed and drive their own career forward as well as go over and above for clients
  • Collaborator: A team player that thrives in the team’s success. Someone that isn’t scared to say they don’t know something or needs help – and to help others that ask for this. We want a team that works to support each other
  • Act like an owner: Being an independent agency allows us to have flexibility to be nimble and aim for continuous improvement. If something can be changed for the better, we want to empower everyone to have key role in the growth of our business
  • Passion for the incongruous: Communications is changing, and we want everyone on the team to be excited about that change. Team members are expected to look for a solution when there might not appear to be one, who can bounce back when things don’t always work out
  • Work to live: we understand that although work is a key part of everyone’s lives, it’s not everything. We want our people to embrace the 5-9 and enjoy lives, relationships outside of the workplace.

If this sounds like you, then we should talk.

By the way, I am a recruiter, though not like others you may have dealt with. I am only interested in achieving a ‘win/win’ for you and my client. I have already been paid, so only the right result matters to me now – that means I will tell you everything you need to know to decide if this is really the right opportunity for you. Warts and all. I know the business, I know the people – that’s why I already feel part of the team. I won’t waste your time. I won’t hassle you to take a role that isn’t right for you. But I may be able to help you into a role you’ll love.
