We have a terrific opportunity for a Senior PR and Press Officer to join our in-house brand and communications team. This is an exciting time to join the CIPD. Key responsibilities -

You will:

  • Easily and proactively build relationships with journalists across national, broadcast and trade media
  • Work closely with the CIPD’s communications, research and policy teams to create and deliver communications campaigns that influence a range of stakeholders, including media, the HR profession, line managers and policy-makers
  • Produce high-impact media coverage that builds the CIPD’s profile in national, business and broadcast media
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breaking news and incoming media requests in our busy press office
  • Create high-quality written material across a number of channels – from rapid response media statements and press releases to longer articles and website copy
  • Work closely our strategic partners – including commercial partnerships and the publishing team behind the CIPD’s monthly member magazine People Management

Knowledge, skills & experience -

You will have:

  • Excellent writing skills, able to create compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels
  • Extensive experience in media relations or journalism
  • Strong awareness of media and non-media influencers with good contacts in the national and business media
  • Experience in creating and managing communications campaigns
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling competing deadlines and shifting priorities at short notice
  • Strong consultancy skills for interactions with the wider business and external partners
  • Good understanding of social media and website analytics
  • Experience of working in a policy environment or for a charity or membership organisation (desirable)
  • Experience of content management systems (desirable)
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to excellence and results
  • A creative, enthusiastic and collaborative approach to work
