We're building a brighter future of energy and a big part of this is establishing, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with business, political, media and community stakeholders. We're looking for an External Relations Manager to advise colleagues across the business and to ensure EDF Energy is represented in the best possible way, in any situation.

There's a lot of variety in the role, it involves advising senior leaders on media relations and public affairs as well as setting up a communications plan for crisis situations. You'll also support the digital team, working with them to develop content and strategies together. An ideal candidate will have proven their ability to deliver effective communications while working alongside senior figures, you'll be up to date on UK politics and the processes involved and able to apply that context to the decisions you make.

This role will suit somebody based in Kent or Gloucestershire, it involves being on-site at the Dungeness power station for two days each week. The station is based near Romney Marsh, a historic haven for environmentalists and artists. Along with the attractive salary and company car, it’s a great chance to get involved with and represent an industry which is helping the UK achieve secure, affordable low carbon electricity supplies.

Key education and experience

  • Relevant degree or suitably qualified by experience.
  • Demonstrated success in the organisation and delivery of successful media and public affairs activities for a complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to manage fast moving issues and deliver to tight deadlines.
