With a vision of extraordinary healthcare for all, Barts Charity is one of the UK’s oldest and largest foundations and one of the most significant funders of healthcare innovation in the UK. We fund ground breaking medical research, state-of-the-art equipment and innovative healthcare projects not otherwise funded by the NHS, and we are currently putting over £30m per year into new funding. Working with our partners, we identify the best and most exciting projects that will have the greatest impact on patients’ lives.

We are currently seeking an outstanding Director of Marketing & Communications to join our dynamic Senior Management Team as we work towards delivering our ambitious grant making strategy and embark on the next phase of our development. Reflecting the importance of this function to the Charity, this is a new role reporting directly to the Chief Executive. You will be responsible for all of the Charity’s marketing and communications output, seeking to extend the Charity’s brand, and supporting our engagement and fundraising teams in achieving their strategic goals of increasing income and growing our database.

The successful candidate will demonstrate senior and strategic leadership experience, which could have been gained in any sector. You will be an established marcomms professional with experience of managing a team and working collaboratively to support other teams and help achieve ambitious income generation targets. You will be experienced in developing and managing brand, conveying impact through compelling copy, optimising use of digital and non-digital channels and managing corporate websites. You will bring strong stakeholder management and networking skills in order to build close working relationships with senior marcomms staff in our partners. You will be an effective decision maker, able to work at pace on multiple priorities and take initiative.  Perhaps most importantly, you will be passionate about the transformative impact of high-quality healthcare and medical research.
