The Role

Camden is a borough at the heart of London where major projects of national importance are having an impact on our citizens and communities including High Speed Two (HS2) and the redevelopment of Euston Station.

We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager to provide strategic communications advice to our programme teams and deliver our communications strategies. In this role, you will be key to how we communicate our work on behalf of Camden’s communities in getting the best deal for Camden, and how we are making sure that HS2 Ltd delivers on its commitments to local people.

Building on our existing communications approach, you will lead the Council’s HS2 and Euston Station redevelopment communications, support the development of stakeholder communications and have a role in supporting our community engagement.

You will work closely with the Council’s Communications team, our HS2 Programme Lead and colleagues across the Council to provide strategic communications advice for our work, in particular around the construction of the High Speed 2 train line. You will brief key internal stakeholders such as councilors and senior officers, and liaise with external stakeholders such as HS2 Ltd, Transport for London, Department of Transport, Lendlease and resident and community groups.

As the owner of the overarching communications plan, you will keep our key messages fresh and up-to-date, and make good use of all channels including digital, print, media and engagement events.

About you

The right individual will be educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience. You will have a wide range of communications experience and make good use of all available channels. A good understanding of community engagement and ability to advise on reaching local audiences, and stakeholder engagement is also required.

You will have a proven track record delivering evidence based campaigns and evaluation along with good writing and presentation skills, and experience of managing budgets and assigning resources to projects. You will be confident providing strategic advice to board level, senior officers and elected members. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person.
