My client is an independent, integrated, boutique agency based in SW London with almost 5 decades in the industry, working across destinations, arts, culture, retail, travel and consumer clients

PR Account Director - The Role
This is a senior and integral role in the business. Every aspect of you knowledge, behaviour, gravitas and skills will set you noticeably above your Account Manager colleagues.

You will be highly creative yet also strategic and commercially astute, as detailed below. All of the agency's work is creative and business focused, driven by brand of smart imagination - highly focused creativity that makes brands more successful.

The agency's USP is harnessing the transformative power of culture. Culture can mean everything from launching new museums and promoting art fairs to helping world class destinations realise their potential by amplifying their destinations as a place to visit, live and work.

You will thrive working across all business sectors. They agency's specialist areas are culture, leisure / tourism and retail. These areas are particularly powerful when delivering PR campaigns for destinations. This is an area the agency want to grow and maximise.

Key Responsibilities /required skills
You will have a genuine and authentic interest in culture, leisure/tourism and retail. You will be excited about working across these areas and imparticluar about growing the agency's work for destinations.

You will sit across all campaigns, working closely with the agency's Practice Director, and the MD on strategy and directing and nurturing the Account Leads to deliver great client outcomes. You will have a team of five (and growing) beneath them.

You will be expected to be hands on. I.e. muck in with press calling, press release writing, running and delivering campaigns. The agency is a team of ten and this is a very hands on role. An individual who justs wants to manage is not suitable.

You will need to have first class PR skills able to deliver outstanding media and integrated campaigns. You will have a natural nose for a story, first class media contacts and a brilliant ability to write compelling copy, craft stories, pitch ideas and secure outstanding coverage. You will be a news and brand hound, interested and knowledgeable about how brands communicate and the role of traditional and social media to influence audiences into action.

You will have excellent client handling skills. The agency's mission is to delight clients and make them more successful. This means they not only provide outstanding client service and output results (e.g. coverage) but also get to know client's business and deliver campaign results that make their business more successful.

Therefore, you, the AD must be able to provide intelligent and well presented counsel and advice to clients in a compelling manner. You should be prepared to voice ideas and concepts that may challenge the client to think or act differently. Everything your team does should be focused and measurable towards making clients more successful.

The agency need a strategic thinker with gravitas and clout. They are not just seeking a 'publicist' but well rounded communications expert who loves developing and executing measurable business growth strategy for brands.

Within the business, the AD should be able deliver accurate budgets and run a team (you will have five reports) to profit. Your good nature will be underpinned by resolve and skill to be able to hold clients account, manage budgets and scheme of work to avoid over servicing. You will spot opportunities to help grow income from existing clients.

You will also be involved in our new business to new clients. This means that you should be able to pitch and present very well and able to develop highly creative concepts.

Most importantly, you will be a strong leader and a reliable, purposeful, team player. You will use your own high standards and influence to can get the most from your team and will enjoy motivating and coaching staff. You will revel in making the work fun but unafraid of holding colleagues to account, fostering a work environment where excellence is grown and expected.

Crucially, you will be able to manage up. You will be confident and open with senior colleagues. You will embrace the agency's internal mantra of 'good ideas and thinking trump titles' and provide thoughtful feedback and input to senior colleagues in a spirt of ever evolving and enhancing how the agency works and runs and the role we can play in moving it forward, for the benefit of everyone.
