Are you passionate about public service and want your communications to make a difference?

We’re looking for a communication and engagement officer who can deliver high-impact campaigns that inform residents and businesses about the issues that matter in Croydon and involve them in bringing about positive change.

Working with colleagues across the council, politicians, and our partners, you could be working on some of our award-winning campaigns – including Choose Your Future and Don’t Mess With Croydon – targeting your communications based on insight and evaluation.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a proven track record in delivering integrated communications plans. You’ll enjoy finding creative solutions to meet our objectives and translating complex issues into engaging content that works across print and digital channels. You’ll also be confident engaging with residents and partners face-to-face and through social media.

You should ideally possess a communications or marketing qualification and a good working knowledge of local government.

In return you will be joining a proactive, professional and supportive team positioned in the office of the chief executive at the heart of an ambitious council. No week will ever be the same - your work will be varied, interesting and challenging, with opportunities to use and develop your skills in all areas of communications.

Croydon Council provide excellent benefits for its staff, including a brilliant Local Government Pension Scheme, work flexibility, generous leave entitlement of 28 plus days per year and numerous staff discounts.

Closing date: Thursday 9 May 2019 (midnight)

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 20 May 2019.

About Croydon

Croydon’s cultural renaissance is at the heart of regeneration across the borough and the reopening of the Fairfield Halls as a world-class arts centre later this year will be a significant milestone.

A £5bn programme of investment is currently underway across the town centre, creating new offices, new retail, new homes and new infrastructure for our rapidly growing population.

Croydon is a forward-thinking, naturally ambitious council that is responding to change both within the borough and the public sector. We’re looking for communicators that can help tell the Croydon story and engage with local residents and businesses.

Strong partnerships are the foundation for the future. We are finding new ways of working with other agencies and the private sector to identify and respond to local needs early – preventing issues from becoming crises and building community resilience.

Can you help us shape a positive future for Croydon’s residents and businesses?

Equal Opportunities

Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role.
