Want to work in a communications environment where no two days are the same? We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious communications professional to broaden their experience and use their expertise to create a positive impact within our News, Digital and Content team.

We are currently recruiting for the role of News and Digital Specialist, which sits within our busy news centre team and will be part of our wider Communications Division.

To be a success in the role, you will need an excellent news sense, with the ability to write content and tell engaging stories that convey to our various audiences how we deliver our wider public health mission. You will also know when to respond quickly to negative issues to limit potentially damaging media and social media coverage, by having excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience of arranging spokespeople and facilitating media interview requests when needed in a fast-paced environment is required.

You will have great networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong and trusted relationships with subject matter experts in the agency, as well as with external stakeholders on topical news and digital issues.

The successful candidate will raise the Agency’s profile within the media and social media, through helping to deliver an effective communications and reputation strategy and creatively managing our website and social media channels. You will advise senior managers and specialist staff on how we can enhance our reputation, promote our public health mission, and deliver our business priorities. You will also promote the principles of good creative content to Agency colleagues.

This role involves taking part in an on-call rota with a 4.5% allowance added on top of the salary.
