My client is a well-established Leeds PR agency who is looking to appoint a new PR account director for their award winning team.

They are looking for someone who is able to establish strong client relationships, develop powerful strategies, deliver outstanding tactical implementation, manage staff and contribute directly to the sourcing and winning of new business.

 

The agency provides corporate, consumer, trade and technical public relations, content marketing, social media and search services. The role would involve both B2B and B2C work, and clients that the account director would undertake activity for cover professional services, construction, property, asset management, tech, manufacturing and tourism attraction clients.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exemplary client service for specified clients. This will include:
  • Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with the client who listens and values your advice
  • Developing a strong working knowledge of your clients’ business, their competitors and relevant industry bodies
  • Identifying key messages and audiences and developing strategic communications plans
  • Delivering projects and campaigns on time and on budget
  • Understanding the financials of each account, the allocated hours per month vs. actual fee and managing the accounts according to the resulting servicing levels
  • Proactively communicating regularly with clients on status of deliverables and budget
  • Identify relevant opportunities to secure organic growth and hit your revenue targets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with appropriate members of the media
  • Keep abreast of daily news-driven PR opportunities (newsjacking), market trends, future developments and client needs
  • Own account management to ensure monthly client billing is accurate, client expenses are recouped, and accounts are current.
  • In addition to leading strategic planning efforts, fully partake in the execution of the activity we develop, as determined appropriate by account, including but not limited to writing/editing, media relations, social media, digital communications, issues management and managing suppliers
  • Be an ambassador for the agency

 

Agency operations

  • Maintain a respectful, enthusiastic, and professional attitude towards colleagues, clients and suppliers and lead by example
  • Support teams and manage up and down
  • Assist with the agency’s PR’s marketing and sales activities as required
  • Liaison with, and management of, external suppliers and co-created content providers and influencers
  • Maintain accurate records and files of all activities, using the agency’s time recording software
  • Contribute toward company growth by participating in new business development and generating excellent client case studies
  • Drive initiatives to identify new business opportunities
  • Mentor junior staff to elevate development
  • A commitment to the job is a must and willingness to undertake travel within the UK and, occasionally, Europe to fulfil the requirements of the role is essential

  • Effectively prioritise responsibilities based on impact, timelines, workflow and client goals
  • Lead by example and ensure team mates have clear direction on roles/responsibilities
  • Attend networking events, seminars and conferences, as required, to maintain personal professional development and to build networking and new business contacts

 

Job requirements

The account director will be a key member of the team providing management across the agency’s portfolio of clients. Your responsibilities include the following:

  • At least seven years’ PR agency experience
  • Record of high academic achievement with good degree and A level results
  • Core B2B PR background with some knowledge of consumer PR and crisis management
  • Experience of running a reactive and pro-active press office and handling incoming press enquiries
  • Experience measuring the ROI of communications activities
  • Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns and media coverage amplification
  • Excellent publicity skills – a strong understanding of the media, editorial requirements and what ‘makes’ a story
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, content marketing and social media and how to successfully utilise them as part of integrated PR campaigns
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking
  • A wide network of national business and regional contacts across a broad spectrum of media
  • Experience in delivering impactful PR campaigns from inception through to delivery and evaluation
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally, interfacing at all levels
  • Superior people and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Team player who works well under pressure
