Then working for the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and joining our award-winning news centre team is for you! A great opportunity has arisen for someone looking to progress their career within a news, social media and web setting.

Within a week of working here, your day could look like this; you take a call from a national print journalist about a fake batch of counterfeit medicines and liaise with the in-house expert to put together a statement. Meanwhile, you’re also creating some exciting new digital content to promote the dangers about faulty diabetes home testing kits. The next day, you are creatively putting ideas together for a social media campaign to promote our expertise in bringing new and innovative products onto the UK market.

From medicines that are household names to faulty pacemakers, you will be dealing with some of the most exciting health issues in communications today. Being part of the news centre, you will work on our media, social media and digital channels to help inform the public and our stakeholders about the risks and benefits of medicines and medical devices. We are frequently in the spotlight, priding ourselves in the standard of information we provide reactively and equally as passionate about our proactive work.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate and creative with an excellent news sense, ability to write content and tell engaging stories about how we protect public health. You will also know when to respond quickly to negative issues to limit potentially damaging media and social media coverage, by having excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience of arranging spokespeople and facilitating media interview requests when needed in a fast-paced environment is required.

You will have great networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong and trusted relationships with subject matter experts in the agency, as well as with external stakeholders on topical news and digital issues.

The successful candidate will raise the Agency’s profile within the media and social media, through helping to deliver an effective communications and reputation strategy and You will help to develop content for our websites and social media channels.

This role involves taking part in an on-call rota with a 4.5% allowance added on top of the salary.
