Why BT?

Born in 1846, we’ve led the way in telecommunications since the dawn of the industry.  Our roots go back to the first telecommunications company in the UK and over the last two centuries, we’ve innovated, challenged and pioneered the way we communicate and connect across the globe.

Now we’re undergoing one of the biggest transformations in our history. In almost every area of BT, we’re shaking things up and looking for new ways to do what we do best – delivering amazing things for our customers, while constantly striving to make BT a brilliant place to work for our people.

It means there’s a lot happening but it’s an exciting time to be part of our team. So, if you have the drive, optimism and resilience to help drive us forward we’ll offer a tonne of opportunities to learn and experience new things. If that’s you and what you’re looking for, we’d love you to be part of our future.

Why Internal Communications?

With so much going on, our role in internal communications has never been more important. Our mission is to help everyone in the business understand what we’re doing and where we’re going; to create a community of 100,000 advocates working for one company with a shared vision and purpose. We work to three core values at BT: personal, simple, brilliant that help shape the work we do, so we can play our part in making BT a great place to work. It’s challenging, at times exhausting, but it’s also hugely rewarding and fun. And we’re in it together.

Why this job matters

We’re made up of seven units – customer-facing and corporate. Although we might support different parts of the business, we’re all working for one company and the work we do in internal communications needs to reflect that.

That’s where you come in. Working into the senior internal comms manager of Enterprise, you’ll play a really important part in making sure that whatever we do, we do it consistently brilliantly.

You’ll be a creative and passionate content creator, searching out new ideas and stories that support our BT-priorities and drive advocacy of our brand. You’ll be experienced in advising the best way to land messages, working across wide range of channels and skilled in creating brilliant communications.

While you’ll be comfortable following the direction set by the senior internal comms manager, you’ll always be on the look out to try new things and bring fresh ideas to the table in pursuit of raising the quality of our communications time and again. You’re not afraid to challenge when you disagree with something but you’re able to do so without creating issues.

You’ll know what it’s like to deliver brilliant communications to a large audience, working closely with your network in internal comms and the wider business to make sure that what you do lands as well as possible.

You’ll be a firm advocate for BT and the stuff we deliver for our employees, sharing best practice with the wider internal communications team, proactively providing ideas, protecting and promoting our brand and inspiring others.

In a nutshell, you’ll be a writer, creative, an ideas sponge, a team player, a challenger. You’ll be unfazed by corporate jargon and ambiguity – in fact you see it as part of the fun. Up for it? Get in touch.
