About Us:
THE WESTMINSTER WAY
At Westminster, we make sure everyone is valued. It’s about recognising individual talents and being enriched by the diversity of our people. And letting those people truly take the lead, either in their own roles or managing a team. Together, we’ll build a stronger, safer city for all our communities and the 250,000 residents who call Westminster home. And you’ll have the chance to do some extraordinary things in the process. Simply put, it’s the Westminster Way.
The Role:
CREATE A ONE-OF-A KIND EXPERIENCE
As our digital communications officer (governance and policy), you’ll play a central role in the Westminster communications team. By creating and implementing policies, processes and systems, you’ll inspire best-practice in our online operations and help us achieve our ambitious ‘City for All’ objectives.
You’ll be our expert advisor on strategic digital communications and a guardian of our digital communications standards here at Westminster. A core part of this role will be supporting internal and external contacts to ensure big improvements to our digital output. While building strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, your projects will include embedding digital best-practice in everything we do, forming a new microsite policy, advocating for a unified online experience in our new website launch, as well as finding ways to promote a first-class online experience for all our users.
Creating guidelines and educating our teams will form an important part of your role. You’ll provide in-house training and work with expert colleagues to elevate their knowledge and improve their ways of working.
Last, but by no means least, you’ll be a constant source of innovation and new thinking in the department, proactively bringing forward ideas on new ways to drive up standards and improve our practices.
Please note this is a politically restricted role – this should underpin all of your work.
About You:
SHOW US EXTRAORDINARY
You’ll have at least five years’ experience working in digital communications, preferably within local government or a campaigning organisation. You’ll also have proven experience designing, implementing and monitoring the success of digital policies and guidelines.
Useful experience also includes a previous position in a multi-disciplinary digital team alongside skills in digital training, including CMS use.
Overall, we’re looking for proactive, creative problem-solvers. You’ll enjoy being highly collaborative and able to forge strong working relationships across the organisation.
In terms of qualifications, you’ll be educated to degree level or hold a marketing/communications qualification or equivalent by experience.
What We Offer:
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
If you’re productive, ambitious, collaborative and enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of Westminster, a true ‘City for All’ and a flagship council. This is a one-of-a kind place where different ideas and perspectives are welcome, and your work truly matters. We never stop aiming higher – join us, and help shape our city for years to come.
Company
Like a challenge? How about helping to manage a 24 hour city of 240,000 people in the very heart of our capital. One where the daytime population swells to 1.1 million and commerce produces 2% of the entire nation’s GDP. A place that offers a shop window into Britain and encompasses places as diverse as the Houses of Parliament, Soho’s creative centre, the seat of monarchy and the hustle and bustle of the Harrow Road.
Not enough? Then how about dealing with complex problems, from recycling, and traffic congestion to crime and poverty in an environment focused on supporting people.
If you want to work for one of London’s leading organisations where you can really make a difference to people’s lives we’d like to hear from you.
