Communications Manager UK & EMEA – In House – Global technology provider to the travel industry – Richmond Upon Thames – £60,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, plus outstanding benefits and career progression

My client now seeks a proactive, savvy and resourceful Communications Manager, UK & EMEA, responsible for developing and delivering high-impact media communication strategies that raise awareness of their technology, business and mainstream media from their European head office in Richmond upon Thames.  The candidate will be responsible for managing and leading PR efforts for a number of EMEA markets, including the UK & Ireland, South Africa and Benelux, working closely with leaders and the regional communications team.  As member of the global Corporate Communications and Investor Relations team, you will also be required to support global initiatives and provide issues management where required.

General Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have relevant experience within a corporate or consumer communications environment, either in-house or agency with strong media relations and thought leadership skills 
  • Develop and deliver proactive communications strategies and campaigns that position my client as an innovative technology partner to airlines, travel agencies, hotels and the broader travel industry
  • Develop content that positions my client as a challenger and thought leader, at the forefront of key trends in personalisation and travel distribution
  • Identify media opportunities that increase profile and coverage in technology, business and mainstream publications
  • Support  growth in its network of new and emerging markets and segments
  • Assess and deliver robust multi-channel media engagement programs with a focus on content, placement, engagement and value
  • Support the EMEA PR team with content and ideas that can be used in region
  • Build and develop key media relationships, and respond to media and industry queries
  • Assist in crisis management and response plans for communications on issues
  • Manage my client’s presence at key industry events in the UK & Ireland, Benelux and occasional additional EMEA locations
  • Drive measurable collaboration across Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand Communications to ensure key communications plans, narratives and content deliverables are used to maximum effect
  • Champion the use of new channels including social media and blogs as an effective communication tool
  • Support internally priority audiences – CEO, SMEs, SVPs, VPs – for keynotes, panels, interviews and speaking opportunities in term of content, presentations and talking points
  • Monitoring competition activity and making strategic recommendations
  • Be an inspiring team player, supporting a culture that drives results, creativity and collaboration
  • Be part of a global media team that provides counsel and messaging for issues and actively promote and protect my client’s reputation

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong and relevant experience in PR / communications, gained from corporate or serious consumer in-house or agency with minimum six years’ experience
  • Experience of managing PR activity across multiple regions, preferably within EMEA, e.g. managing a network of agencies or supporting a variety of regional offices
  • Exceptional English-language writer and interpersonal communicator, with the ability to draw content from technical internal sources and produce clear and compelling communications in a variety of formats
  • Ideally at least some understanding or at least interest of the technology industry – but not essential
  • Understanding of how technology is shaping and advancing the everyday lives of individuals as well as organisations
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering communications plans, and a knowledge of working with national media
  • Proven experience and expert understanding of new media channels
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including leaders, peers and subject matter experts within the businesses
  • A forward-thinker who has a keen eye for topical events
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience working in or with corporate environments
  • Knowledge of technology or travel industry is preferred but not mandatory
  • Occasional travel may be required around EMEA and the United States
