Hyde Park, London, W2 (with travel to all other parks listed below)

About Us

Created in March 2017, The Royal Parks is a charity that supports and manages 5,000 acres of historic parkland across London. Millions of Londoners and tourists visit our beautiful sites, which offer unparalleled opportunities for enjoyment, exploration and healthy living in the heart of the capital.

We look after eight of London’s largest open spaces; Hyde Park, The Green, Richmond, Greenwich, St James’s, Bushy and The Regent’s Parks, and Kensington Gardens. We also manage other important open spaces in the capital including Brompton Cemetery, Victoria Tower Gardens, Canning Green and Poet’s Corner.

We are currently looking for an Event Communications Manager to join our Communications Team based at Hyde Park for a fixed term contract until October 2020.

Your Rewards

- Salary of £34,509 - £40,000 per annum plus £3,890 on-call allowance
- 26 days’ holiday per annum on commencement plus Bank Holidays
- Pension scheme
- Life assurance

If you are a talented PR and communication professional with excellent event organisation skills, this is the perfect role in which to take your next step and support London in a key capacity.

You will discover that this role is vital to our mission and close to the heart of what we are about. The Royal Parks are beautiful havens within the sprawling metropolis of London that provide respite, fresh, clean air and open space for many who otherwise would spend their lives only surrounded by urban jungle.

What’s more, as well as helping to preserve and enhance the reputation of the Royal parks, you will have the chance to be involved in planning such big events as Barclaycard presents British Summer Time and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

Your Role

As an Event Communications Manager, you will be tasked with working on communications, PR, media relations and stakeholder engagement for major events that are held at any of the Royal Parks.

Joining the Communications Team, you will work closely with the Events Team and Event Managers and will seek to build awareness of The Royal Parks to support revenue development, our work and our identity.

A key element of your role will be to ensure that visitors are aware of their surroundings in a Royal Park and the uniqueness of the event is featured strongly across all messaging.

Primarily, the topics you will be involved with will include:

- Events supporting fundraising to conserve and enhance London’s eight Royal Parks
- Promoting the benefits of the Royal Parks to London as unique urban green spaces
- Highlighting the importance of visitors respecting the parks

Your role will also involve:

- Developing opportunities through events to inspire support and advocacy for The Royal Parks
- Working closely with multi agency partners and key stakeholders
- Joining the on-call media rota to deal with out-of-hours media enquiries during one week in four

About You

To be considered as an Event Communications Manager, you will need:

- Substantial experience of working in a communications role for high-profile, large-scale events
- Proven experience of successful multi-agency partnership working, in particular with event organisers, local councils and the Police
- To be proficient in delivering consistent brand messaging, both internally and externally
- Substantial media relations experience, including writing press releases, handling high-profile and sensitive media issues, and responding to media enquiries quickly and accurately
- Experience of managing digital and social media plans for large events
- A degree level education or equivalent through relevant training and/or experience

A PR or comms qualification would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of working for a charity or not-for-profit organisation.

Other organisations may call this role Events Manager, PR Manager, Communications Manager, Comms Manager, Marketing & PR Manager, Charity Marketing Manager, Marketing & Events Manager, or Public Relations Manager.

Please note, the closing date for this role is the 20th August 2019.

Webrecruit and The Royal Parks are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.

So, if you are ready to take your next step as our Event Communications Manager, please apply via the button shown. This vacancy is being advertised by Webrecruit. The services advertised by Webrecruit are those of an Employment Agency.
