Summary
The UK led the world this year, as the first major economy to legislate to end its contribution to global warming entirely by 2050.
As chief media officer on the energy and clean growth desk, you would have the unique and exciting opportunity to help lead a team of media officers to communicate and promote what the Government is doing to reduce emissions across the economy to meet this ambitious target.
You will be responsible for a team of media officers and their work to communicate the UK's:
• clean energy revolution - from its booming offshore wind sector to exploring new ways of financing new nuclear plants;
• international leadership on tackling climate change - from helping developing countries develop clean energy sources to bidding to host crucial UN climate talks next year;
• efforts to revolutionise domestic and businesses' use of energy use - from the national smart meter rollout to buildings energy efficiency measures; and
• work to ensure the UK continues to have a secure and increasingly cleaner energy system.
You will manage a large team of media officers to deliver comprehensive and targeted communications plans to promote and defend what the Government is doing in this area.
As a member of the senior management team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards, encouraging fresh and innovative communications approaches and professional development of a large team of media officers.
