The Communications Team are responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of the University and its five Schools. 

We are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Communications Officer who can work with us to develop communications strategies to tell the story of the Cass Business School and increase its external reputation.

You will join a team of motivated communications professionals committed to ensuring the world-leading research produced by academics at City reaches the right audiences. You will work particularly closely with the other Senior Communications Officer responsible for Cass Business School.

Responsibilities
Using the full range of communications channels the Senior Communications Officer will work with academics to promote their research and expertise across a wide range of media. 

The postholder will need to build strong relationships with academics and other staff across the School to ensure they are the go-to person for new research outputs, expert comment on the day’s news and other key School events. They will use their first-class media relations skills to achieve national and international coverage of the world leading research and teaching in the School and across the wider University.

Person Specification
The Senior Communications Officer will have extensive experience of working in media relations and communications and experience of successfully communicating academic research or complex information to the media. Experience of working in finance or business journalism or in a PR & Communications role in those sectors would be highly desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to produce articles, profiles, features and news releases sometimes under very tight deadlines. They will be confident in summarising complex academic information and relaying it in an easily accessible way, both verbally and in writing. A strong, instinctive news sense coupled with excellent writing skills and solid networking abilities is required. 

Highly developed interpersonal skills and a sound knowledge of how digital content and social media are changing communications are also essential requirements.
