If you answered yes to these questions, we may have the role you’ve been looking for.

Croydon is an ambitious London borough. The council is leading the way in ensuring that the people and businesses in the area flourish. We have bold plans for taking our communications and engagement service to the next level and are looking for an experienced communications manager to help us raise the council’s profile even higher.

You’ll be confident advising senior leaders, managing a team, drafting communication strategies and engaging with residents. You will also be able to demonstrate previous experience working alongside both internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll be familiar with the full range of communication channels available and keep up to date with new ideas and trends in the fields of engagement and change communications. Photography, video and editing skills are also desirable.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a proven track record working in a large, preferably public sector, organisation. You’ll enjoy finding creative solutions to meet our objectives and translating complex issues into engaging content that works across print and digital channels. You will also be able to demonstrate previous experience working alongside both internal and external stakeholders.

In return you will be joining a proactive, professional, supportive team, with induction, training and development opportunities.

Croydon Council provides excellent benefits for its staff, including a brilliant Local Government Pension Scheme, work flexibility, generous leave entitlement of 28 plus days per year and numerous staff discounts.

Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role.
