The Role

This senior opportunity in the Corporate Centre Communications function will be accountable for bringing about a step change to the way in which the NDA group, plans, implements and evaluates digital communications, including social media.

Maximising the opportunities of digital communications, the role holder will introduce a more strategic approach, aligned across the group and based on best practice by liaising with NDA Corporate Centre Directors, NDA group-wide Directors/Heads of Communications, communications professionals .


Accountabilities

Reporting to the NDA Head of Strategic Communications, the Digital Communications Lead will:

  • Be the champion of digital change, working with communications directors and leads across the business, creating a spirit and culture of collaboration that delivers value
  • Shape the strategy for achieving digital excellence and consistency across the NDA group
  • Foster and lead a One NDA community of digital expertise, increasing and improving skills across the group
  • Guide the NDA group on how best to use digital platforms to maximise outcomes
  • Establish cross group digital campaigns, based on achieving collective outcomes
  • Leverage the breadth and scale of the NDA group digital communications
  • Represent the group digital communications community at key Board and Executive meetings to report on plans, performance and issues
  • Identify, mitigate and manage digital communications issues, including those that threaten the reputation of the NDA group

 

Key deliverables include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and oversight of a Digital Communications Strategy for the NDA group
  • Establish a consistent and appropriate way of evaluating and reporting the success of digital communications, including social media, for use across the NDA group

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • A strategic communications mind-set, understanding the wider communications and stakeholder landscape and how digital fits to enhance the communications mix.
  • Ability to anticipate, manage and advise on digital communications crisis/issues, including reputational ones.
  • Significant experience in leading digital communications in a comparable organisation.
  • In depth knowledge/experience of leading successful social media campaigns with experience of best practice from the private sector desirable
  • Proven track record of using audience management and analytics tools (including Google analytics, search engine optimisation, social media platform management)
  • Demonstrable creative and storytelling ability
  • Technical ability to create and manage content (including copy, video, photography and podcasts)
  • Inspirational leadership qualities, with recent experience of leading successful teams, working to comparable outcomes
  • A natural ability to foster positive and collaborative working environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop and sustain positive relationships
  • A real influencer, with strong negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Ability to lead multiple projects  
  • Educated to degree standard, in a relevant field
