My client is a global personalised heath tech company that is a UK leader in their field for testing DNA and gut microbiome.  By combining the latest genetic technologies with digital health data, this global business gives consumers an opportunity to anticipate areas that may cause them health issues in the future.  As a result, they adopt healthy habits now that could help prevent them occurring.  The company’s mission is to drive the movement towards preventative healthcare with evidence-based technology and empower people to make positive lifestyle changes before the get sick. 

Looking for a PR and Communications Manager for a 10 month maternity cover,  the ideal hire will be able to start end of November! This super exciting opportunity will be based in their offices in Central London, which has overland and underground connections.  This role would suit someone that has a mix of consumer, b2b and corporate disciplines, however, should there be one preferred of all three, it would be consumer.  Media contacts within the consumer lifestyle press is essential, as well as business and broadsheets.

The role 

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the PR/Communications strategies across the UK, Europe and other countries, working closely with senior management and key departments to ensure a smooth running of PR externally/internally across the business. You will work very closely with the sales and marketing teams to help amplify campaigns and initiatives that promote the different components of the business. 

Success in this role will be measured by this person's strategic insight, ability to perform under pressure, and willingness to accept tasks both small and large to deliver against our collective team objectives.

You will be managing 3 PR agencies – in the UK, Germany and Canada. This role is based in London, however, some level of travel is expected to other markets.  There are a few key calendar events throughout the contract that would be ideally attended by yourself as well as the monthly events that you will be organising.

Key responsibilities

Media Relations:

You will actively manage press relationships and ensure the coverage of the general business, its products, events (1 event per month to organise – blogger events, panellist discussions etc.), public announcements, among other projects are handled in a professional and positive way. Prepare senior management and designated spokespeople for press interaction or other external events. Ensuring the business strategy is followed, and the message is portrayed correctly. This may be in the form of training, briefings and debriefings.

Internal Communications:

Lead internal communications strategy with messaging oversight for all company communication. Tailoring corporate messages, social and internal messaging - ensuring key business messages are communicated.

Strategy

As the comms lead, you will identify current and potential issues and challenges that the company faces. You will partner with senior management teams throughout the business to ensure the execution of strategies, solutions, and opportunities to those issues. Assisting the crisis management team when required. Work closely with marketing and sales teams, to enable the enhancement of strong and meaningful relationships with the target audience, external partners and key media outlets.  

Management
Manage the PR agencies in the UK, Germany and Canada. Manage all PR budgets, working closely with finance and senior management to ensure the budget is in line with company needs.

Skills & Experience

  • Solid experience working at a manager/senior manager level within a brand/PR agency
  • A passion for and ideally an understanding of the health tech industry 
  • Be an adaptable, quick learner with strong judgement
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of managing a team/external partners
  • Strong writing skills and ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Consistent track record of securing high-level media coverage
  • Strong existing relationships with media, including business, lifestyle and key trade journalists 
  • Preferred qualifications: fluency in a European language other than English (Russian, German, Italian)

There will be an exciting opportunity to work with a few amazing ambassadors including nutritionists, doctors, scientists and practitioners.   You will also be working alongside a talented team of marketeers and sales personnel that are based overseas, who offer support and valuable insight into the product and services that my client offers.  Marketing is a part of this role therefore any experience to date, especially video content, would be beneficial.

Within the contract period there is a big possibility that the business will be launching into a couple of huge markets, to add to their current global portfolio of regions. This is a very exciting opportunity and one to be grasped with both hands!   Any experience of sourcing and working with global PR and Comms agencies would be valuable.
