External Affairs Assistant - We have vacancies across England and Wales, where you will based out of an office within the relevant region or starting from home. Travel is required across the whole of the region you will be assigned to. 

We are a small in house external affairs team in a major international utility company and are looking to expand. Our role is to provide a high quality bespoke external affairs and stakeholder engagement service for a variety of projects from small refurbishments to major new developments.

As External Affairs Assistant, your role will be to provide a stakeholder and engagement service to National Grid Electricity and Gas construction projects, and to ensure that external project communications are delivered in accordance with best practice, process and guidance to specification, programme and cost and to protect and enhance National Grid's reputation. 

In this role, you will work closely with project teams and external affairs colleagues to support delivery of engagement plan requests for the region. You will be responsible for the production and distribution of approved communication materials such as printing of letters, leaflets, displays, alongside working closely with designers, printers and mailout companies to achieve this. You will also plan, prepare and deliver public information events, research, book venues and organise payments. 

You will be responsible for managing the communication channels (free phone hotline, email account, website, social media and free post addresses) for external parties, drafting letters and engaging with community and stakeholders that contact the projects through the communication channels, as well as managing the storage of project communication materials for community relations activities. 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to be self-motivated with an ability to work under your own intitiative to deliver results, whilst at the same time being a strong team player and working collaboratively with the External Affairs Team as well as the people from other areas of the business. You will need good time-management skills which demonstrate an ability to multi-task and manage competing workloads to meet demanding deadlines whilst maintaining high standards. 

A thorough understanding of Microsoft software (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint) and other business tools is essential for this role. You must also have strong written and communication skills, with an eye for detail. It is also essential that you hold a degree (or equivalent) or have relevant experience. 

Travel to other offices and sites will be required, therefore it is essential that you hold a full valid UK car driving licence.
