The Role
Working in our busy and friendly office, the Communications Officer will monitor internal, external and digital communications with the objective of telling the organisation’s story to its wide range of stakeholders in an engaging and creative way.
Role Responsibilities for a Communications Officer:
- Ensure powerful, engaging and effective content, messages and materials (including film, photography and copy) are developed for our channels
- Support Forward’s online presence, stakeholder communications, day to day media activity and project marketing
- Support day-to-day delivery of social media content across our corporate and campaign channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram
- Assist with the effective management of our CRM database
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive research into communications opportunities
- Ensure all events in support of your communications objectives, such as prison open days and community engagement events, are planned and managed to a good standard
- Maintain knowledge of Forward’s work and services, as well as issues relating to the third sector, criminal justice and substance misuse sectors
- Develop and maintain effective systems to support the efficient and accurate functioning of the communications team
Requirements for the Communications Officer:
- A relevant degree (ideally Communications, Politics, Marketing, Journalism, English or Design)
- Experience of working in Communications, creating engaging materials for a range of audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail
- Approachable, friendly and adaptable
- Ability to deliver complex messages in a variety of engaging ways
- Experience of developing or delivering internal communications, marketing materials, website and social media content is advantageous
- Knowledge of design software (Adobe creative suite), Content Management Systems (Umbraco, Wordpress) and Microsoft Office
