Your role will be to provide an expert stakeholder and engagement service to National Grid Electricity and Gas construction projects, and to ensure that external project communications are delivered in accordance with best practice, process and guidance to specification, programme and cost and to protect and enhance National Grid's reputation, both in project development and delivery. Assessing the effetiveness of Capital Delivery's strategic approach to project communications and regional engagement, you will identify, recommend and, where appropriate, oversee changes.

You will plan, prepare and deliver effective communications content across multiple channels to meet projects' needs, specifically the programme, cost and reputational impacts and be responsible for ensuring that project communication resource requirements are identified, procured and sufficiently embedded ahead of need, and that these resources perform effectively in relation to the delivery of communications related activities. Providing and coordinating a route for projects' day to day complaints management process, escalating issues where guidance and advice is required, you will ensure project teams are aware of corporate-level issues that could influence project communications activities.

Working with the Regional External Affairs Manager and National Grid's corporate teams, you will manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as a point of contact to produce and coordinate responses to media and stakeholder queries, ensuring consistency across all projects. You will develop strong relationships with project teams to understand their needs from a community relations perspective, ensuring that they know how to make the best use of the community relations support that is available to them.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly articulate with very strong written, verbal and presentation skills; who has a track record of stakeholder, community and media engagement as well as experience of effectively managing relationships with contractors and suppliers. You will have experience of preparing communication materials for print, broadcast and social media, including web content. In addition to understanding the external environment in which National Grid construction projects are carried out, it would be advantageous if you have a good understanding of the transmission and construction business, the planning process and how this determines the community relations delivery and strategy.

It is essential that you hold a degree (or equivalent) or have relevant experience.

Travel to other offices and sites will be required, therefore it is essential that you hold a full valid UK car driving licence.

Further Information

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
