Job Details

Our client is seeking a Social Media and PR Communications Manager to join their organisation. In this 360 role, you’ll create and manage the entire social media ecosystem across a range of channels and communities. You’d also be responsible for running PR campaigns as and when they’re needed, keeping a list of up-to-date press contacts, writing press releases and running outreach activities. The ideal candidate would have experience working in a social media and/or communications role for a journalistic organisation, a non-profit, or government agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and track metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications initiatives
  • Build engagement with their network of journalists, newsrooms and the public
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with social media commentators
  • Demonstrate impeccable grammar and spelling and a strong command of the English language
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and collaboration skills, working with the Creative Studio and Editorial team to deliver world-class content and campaigns
  • Contribute to ideation and brainstorming of new concepts, campaigns, and initiatives for social and communications channels
  • Work on projects with multiple stakeholders and ensure consistency of communications
  • Prepare and share in-progress and completed work to internal audiences consistent with a defined tone and style that supports their goals
  • Manage and prioritise multiple deadlines and concurrent projects
  • Be proactive in putting creative ideas forward to benefit the company
  • Track performance of social media content using analytics and insights to inform ongoing content strategy

Required experience:

  • Experience working in a social media and/or communications role for a journalistic organisation, a non-profit or government agency
  • A network of contacts in the journalism industry, preferably at notable publications
  • Experience of communications work in an organisation that operates regionally or internationally
  • Experience working in public relations in the United States (preferred)
  • Impeccable copywriting skills, with a keen eye for detail and confidence in proof-reading their own work and others’
  • Experience handling Twitter accounts for a newsroom, publisher, research body, organisation or another relevant content creator
  • Experience creating content for and managing communities across the usual suspects like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Experience with LinkedIn, Medium, YouTube and other social channels relevant in the news space is hugely beneficial.
  • Confidence in the field that they work in to interact with high-profile individuals on Twitter — newsroom background would be helpful
  • Experience running advertising campaigns on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Analytics and reporting skills, able to draw insights and use these to inform strategy
  • Long-form ghost-writing experience
  • Experience working remotely
  • Spanish-speaker (preferred) Fixed-term contract until October 2nd 2020.
