Publica is a unique place to work – we are a local government organisation with a twist!
We are owned by four local authorities and they want to transform the way services are delivered to residents. To help do this we have started to fundamentally rethink the way we design services in the digital revolution so that we are a customer focused organisation driven by real user needs.

We are looking for an exceptional professional who will lead the communications and marketing team supporting three councils, working hand in glove with council leaders and senior managers to deliver their ambitions.

You will need to have a proven track record in delivering services in a challenging environment, excel at forward planning, creating and implementing strategy, with the ability to influence, inspire and direct a motivated and skilled team to deliver high quality communications and marketing.

You will need to quickly build effective relationships with stakeholders and drive the service forward whilst supporting the ambitions of Publica and the councils it serves.  

We will need you to demonstrate experience of working with differing cultural and political environments, and an understanding of the local government landscape and be able to successfully align marketing and communication strategy with delivering the new Publica business plan and the councils priorities.

To be successful you will have…

  • A relevant degree and membership of relevant professional body and/or significant experience in a leadership role in a complex communications arena  
  • the ability to be flexible, adaptable and sensitive to differences in highly pressured situations
  • excellent knowledge of contemporary communications tools and platforms

And ideally...

  • extensive experience of working with elected members in a political environment

Interviews will be held remotely on the 30th September and at Cotswold District Council Offices on the 1st October (dependent on Government advice).
