St Mary’s Hospice is a special place.
Set in a beautiful market town and a stone’s throw from the Lake District, it couldn’t be better located.

In fact days and weeks at St Mary’s are fast-paced, dynamic and challenging as our talented close-knit team works together to deliver everything from the highest levels of patient palliative care to the best fashion bargains at our network of high street stores.
Factor in our Hospice at Home service, Living Well Centre, Orangery Cafe and fantastic network of volunteers and you start to get an idea of the scale of our operation.
We are fortunate to have a fantastic team who care deeply about our patients, their families and about the hospice’s mission.
And we count ourselves extremely lucky to have the backing of a wonderful community of supporters.
The hospice has a story to tell, and a network of thousands of people with whom to engage - and we are looking for the right individual to join our senior leadership team and take the lead in this area.
The successful applicant will be nothing short of a superhero with boundless energy, drive and a determination to deliver.
They will have demonstrable experience in communications and engagement and be confident in setting and delivering strategic goals which are aligned with wider objectives.
Experience of leading a team is preferable, as is the ability to engage with and develop relationships with wider and diverse external networks.
This is a key appointment.
Our Head of Communications and Engagement will be a champion for the hospice and everything it represents, reporting at board level on a regular basis.
