The individual for this role will lead our busy and high-performing digital communications team. It’s a role that is both challenging and rewarding, requiring someone with exceptional leadership skills, strong creativity and an ability to manage multiple priorities at any one given time to tight deadlines.
You will be responsible for developing content strategies and digital marketing plans for the department’s high priority campaigns and communications projects. You will be working with our Newsdesk on tackling misinformation online and rebuttal as well as discovering new communications approaches to explore how we can use a full range of multimedia channels to reach our audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our senior management team (SMT) and lead a talented, creative team, responsible for using digital and social channels to communicate to people at all stages of life about some of the UK governments most important and high-profile policy areas.
You will also be responsible for contributing to raising skills across your team and the wider communications profession to help us deliver high-impact insight-based communications.
As a member of the SMT you will take part in the office back-up rota, providing senior management support to our out-of-hours service.

You will be communications specialist with a proven background in developing audience-focused strategies and campaigns across all channels, including digital and social media platforms
You will have a proven understanding of media relations and the role of digital channels in managing news announcements
You will have a track record of developing effective and value-for-money digital and multi-media content suitable for use across a range of digital channels and a range of audiences.
