We are looking for a Senior Communications Officer to join our multi award winning Communications Service in London’s most exciting borough.

You will be responsible for overseeing communications for one of the council’s biggest directorates. Whether it is campaigns, media, social media, consultations, newsletters or our quarterly Our East End publication, your work and that of your team will play a key role in how we engage with our residents to make Tower Hamlets a better place together.

To do that you will need to understand our audiences, develop our channels and plan and evaluate content.

As a manager, you will also support, develop and inspire those around you, so you should already have experience of working in a busy communications team.

You will be joining one of the best public sector teams in the country. Over the past few years, we have won national awards for campaigns, social media, ethics and crisis management.

But we want to achieve much more.

Key Responsibilities

The role is for a senior, high calibre public sector communications specialist with;

·        Significant experience in external communication
·        Strong newsletter, social media and consultation experience
·        Excellent eye for detail, design and writing skills
·        Political nous
·        Strong relationship management skills
·      Experience working in a local authority or government organisation is preferable
