This discreet but extremely successful communications agency is looking to add to its talented team. Specialising in the world of private capital markets, its client list is made up of the largest and most well known names in private equity firms and hedge funds globally. Whilst they are sector focused, the work is anything but repetitive: think high-level special situations and crisis, shareholder activist campaigns for hedge funds, restructuring, ESG positioning and fundraising.
In terms of set-up, the agency is unique in that operations are handled by a slick internal team, so if you’re someone who loves focusing on client work and less on performance reviews and line management, this would be your ideal role. And new business targets? Not at this firm. They don’t pitch for new business as a rule due to how busy they already are and due to their fantastic reputation, get most of their work coming to them. As a result the structure is incredibly flat with only about 4 levels in the business.
Size wise, they are a team of around 12 and growing. The work is challenging and fast paced, so the right cultural fit is someone who’s thrilled and excited by exacting clients and the challenges facing the space.
Staff are rewarded very well here, with bonuses at this level approximately 50% of basic salary, an equity scheme that pays dividends from day one, one off bonuses (they paid everyone a £1,000 “Corona bonus” to boost spirits earlier this year), and a number of other schemes such as life assurance, private healthcare, income protection, critical illness cover.
The Role - Director
Due to the aforementioned structure, this role would suit someone in house as well as agency, who enjoys high level client work and doesn’t want to be involved in operations or new business.
Experience of working with clients in the hedge fund and/or private equity space is preferable, but we’ll also look at people with more general financials services experience. Languages also an asset but not essential.
A JD can be supplied upon application, but some key responsibilities include:
- Senior level client management and counsel
- Growing and cultivating strong industry contacts, building your status in the industry as a highly credible, expert and knowledgeable specialist communications advisor
- Strategy development and forward planning including developing and refreshing client strategy/communications programmes
- Expert media handler, adept at handling sensitive or complex media enquiries
- Driving the firm’s marketing activity and leading initiatives e.g. events, content
- Financial responsibilities such as fee negotiations and oversight of client invoicing
