Major listed property developer is looking for a Communications Manager to manage reputational challenges with the media and proactively drive national and trade campaigns.

Overview

This major league property developer is looking for an experienced, driven and proactive Communications Manager to lead on media relations with the national and business press in the UK and across Europe. You will handle the financial comms and quarterly reporting for the business, liaising with senior management. It’s a combination of proactive corporate campaigns, crisis and issues management and financial communications. Benefitting from a flat structure, you will be exposed to senior management from day one who look to the communications team for advice and guidance.

This listed property developer has a substantial portfolio. It’s an exciting business, based in fantastic offices in London and full of passionate, demanding and social individuals. You will be a key player in a good sized team, reporting directly into the Head of Communications and working closely with the Head of the UK business. You will head up crisis management for the business, financial communications and advisory work with key stakeholder around the UK and France. The Role

Key challenges and opportunities in this Communications Manager role:

  • You will be the go-to for the media – nationals, broadcast and trade. Existing relationships will help you in the property and or retail press to achieve success in this role, but it is also expected for you to build on this
  • You will get to learn the business inside out and become an expert - it is expected that you will network with department heads so you know the ins and outs of the business each day
  • You will own the relationships with key property and retail journalists (national, trade and broadcast) for the proactive campaigns for the team
  • Retail is a challenging sector and your issues management skills will be honed.
  • You will lead in managing the messaging around financial results
  • Enjoy getting fast sign-off and having limitless opportunities to come up with creative campaigns.
  • Confidence is key for you to hold your own and be taken seriously in this impressive business
  • The bar is high to enter but you will be looked after there after

The Person

Key attributes and experience for this Communications Manager role:

  • You will be in-house working as a Communications/Media Manager or as (Senior) Account Director in a PR agency – open on level, as it’s about aptitude and ability
  • Ideally you will have a good knowledge of property press and/or retail press and pride yourself on being a good writer
  • Solid and competent media relations experience and good at selling in stories
  • Ability to deal with senior management as often asked for advice and will be required to voice an opinion in a meeting – need to have the confidence and gravitas to do so
  • Ability and emotional intelligence to deal with lots of different type of stakeholders
  • Energised, a team player with creative flair and initiative
  • You are energetic in your approach and people describe you as a team player
  • Strong ability to operate autonomously and make independent decisions when required
  • Good writer
