The challenge
Fast-evolving and unique, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) delivers world class regulation across the UK nuclear industry to protect society. We recognise the importance of engaging with our stakeholders to ensure safety and security is at the heart of all we do. As a Senior Communications Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping to protect, manage and enhance ONR’s reputation with internal and external stakeholders.

The role
With a strategic mind, you’ll develop and deliver effective, measurable communication campaigns to support priority areas in ONR’s Strategy 2020-25. You will support the delivery of the Policy and Communications annual milestone plan, whilst providing expert communications advice to colleagues across the organisation.  Confident with influencing at all levels, you will also show initiative and leadership in media relations and reputation management, provide expertise and input to develop our digital communications and contribute to the delivery of high-quality corporate publications.

The person
An experienced communications professional with a related qualification you’ll have relevant experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally within the public sector. You will be confident in handling media enquiries and developing media strategies to protect and enhance ONR’s reputation. We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate their delivery of large scale/high impact campaigns and managing multiple channels. You’ll have a strong understanding of digital communications, excellent proof-reading skills and proven ability to craft clear, concise copy. You will be able to balance multiple priorities whilst meeting deadlines, with excellent team working and collaboration skills.

In addition to a possible relocation package, we offer a competitive salary of £39,001 - £47,160 (pay award pending). Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for an extremely generous Civil Service Pension scheme and given five weeks’ annual leave, with an extra day for every year worked (up to a maximum of six weeks).

And together they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
