Abbott is a global healthcare leader that helps people live more fully at all stages of life. Our portfolio of life-changing technologies spans the spectrum of healthcare, with leading businesses and products in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic medicines. Our 109,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.

Joining our Global Marketing and External Affairs team, and supporting our Director, Public Affairs, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Communications Manager to identify opportunities, develop strategies and co-ordinate the execution/implementation of internal and external communications programmes across Abbott’s businesses in the UK & Ireland, deploying both traditional communications vehicles as well as digital and social media channels.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of multi-channel PR strategies and campaigns across multiple business units; leveraging media and influencer relations and opportunities; media training of Abbott and external spokespeople; advising business leaders on PR guidelines and policies; developing website strategy and content; driving staff engagement and brand understanding and advising on reputation and issues management.

The role will require exceptional judgement across a range of communications activations in multiple channels to build and protect Abbott’s reputation as a leader in medical technology and employer of choice. You will be able to demonstrate experience of strategic thinking and provide thoughtful guidance to a broad range of internal and external contacts across the affiliates. Bringing meaningful understanding of the media landscape across the UK & Ireland, you will demonstrate deployment of external best practices and a track record of success in healthcare campaign execution.

To be successful, you will be degree qualified as a minimum, and be a self-starter/results-focused individual who successfully works in “virtual” teams and cross-functional working groups. Joining a lean team, you will be comfortable executing all levels of tasks across the communications space and be able to prioritise workload to ensure all deliverables are met.

Once a phased return to office working commences, this role will be based at our UK headquarters in Maidenhead.

As you’d expect from an innovative, global healthcare company, we offer a competitive range of benefits including excellent salaries, a class-leading defined contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, subsidised canteen and a flexible benefits scheme.
