Senior Student Communications Manager

Vacancy Ref: 13926

Full-time, permanent

Salary (Grade H4): £45,361 to £54,131 per annum, plus £2,166 per annum London Weighting

Brunel University London is an international university committed to addressing the challenges of society through ground-breaking applied research and educational programmes. Central to Brunel’s successes is its integrated marketing, communications, recruitment and admissions team of more than 100 people who drive forward the university’s external profile, deliver effective communications to staff and students, and improve the way the university works together to recruit the best minds to study and teach.

We are seeking a resourceful and creative Senior Student Communications Manager to lead a team focused on improving communications and engagement with our diverse student body. This will include delivering regular informative communications as required, designing communications plans for specific campaigns aligned to the student journey and responding to the changing needs and requirements of our students.

You will lead on communications support for all of our internal student-facing services, ensuring they are properly understood and utilised, and work closely with the Senior Executive Team and other senior staff, sometimes advising on contentious and confidential issues. You will also develop and manage the implementation of communications for students across all communications and engagement platforms and activities, ensuring that key messages are delivered in a consistent tone of voice, with opportunities for feedback and engagement.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate a strong track record of managing and improving communications in a large organisation. You will be a creative self-starter, with the ability to motivate a small team to use their own creativity. Higher Education experience is not essential, but you will need to demonstrate resilience, tact and an ability to deal confidently with staff at all levels.

Informal enquiries about the post should be made to Keith Coles, Head of Communications, on +44 (0)7733 305590.

Closing date for applications:  Wednesday 5th May 2021
