This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital and Campaigns Team at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and play a key role working on a wide range of projects, behaviour change and awareness campaigns that ensure the outcomes of our work are understood and the CMA’s reputation is enhanced.

The CMA is the UK’s world-leading body established to make sure competition works in people’s favour and businesses treat their customers fairly. It is an exciting time for the team as we are about to begin the development of our new consumer focused campaign - due to launch in early 2022. The Senior Digital and Campaigns Officer will play an important role in the development and implementation of this campaign alongside supporting existing campaigns. Their key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the CMA’s paid and no-cost digital marketing campaigns for both business and consumer audiences
  • Developing impactful digital marketing materials to support on-going case announcements and projects
  • Identifying PR and stakeholder engagement opportunities to maximise earned publicity – for both campaigns and announcements
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with external agencies (creative agency / media buying agency / video production agency), ensuring that they deliver against briefs, provide quality outputs and offer value for money
  • Identifying key messages from sometimes complex or technical work and advising on the most effective methods of communication

In addition to campaigns work, the postholder will be required to work with the wider Strategy, Communications and Advocacy team to support the CMA’s digital communications work. This will involve overseeing the development of digital and creative content for social media and GOV.UK and identifying opportunities to publicise CMA projects and announcements – via owned, earned and paid channels.

The ideal candidate will require experience of campaign development and planning, with a clear understanding of the digital landscape and how to use channels and platforms to engage with target audiences. They will also require demonstrable editorial and drafting skills, with the ability to write creative, clear, concise and persuasive content suitable for a range of digital channels. Experience of managing and overseeing projects and communications activity from beginning to end is equally important.

The CMA prides itself on being a great place to work and strives to ensure that staff have the opportunity to grow and expand their skills portfolio. As well as being a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work, you will have an opportunity to work for the public good whilst stretching and developing yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, 25 days leave and generous maternity/paternity leave provision, plus interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and favourable consideration of flexible working.
