We have an exciting opportunity for an External Affairs Manager to join our Communications and Engagement Team. The role will involve building an understanding of, engagement with, and trust in UKRI and its activities and interests, both externally and with all employees, with a focus on stakeholder engagement.

As an External Affairs Manager you will understand our stakeholders, their context and concerns. The role will develop and curate insights and share this understanding with the right people across UKRI. The role will work with the Events Delivery teams to manage corporate events and stakeholder engagement.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrable experience of working in external relations, public engagement and/or externally focused communications roles.
• Experience of providing advice to colleagues on approaches to stakeholder engagement, including establishing trusted relationships with key professional bodies, business groups, pressure groups and commentators.
• The ability to segment audiences and develop innovative engagement plans.
• Experience of managing initiatives with positive impacts at a national scale.
• A strong track record of success in managing relationships around complex issues.
• Experience of horizon scanning for opportunities and risks in relation to key external stakeholders.
