Senior Communications & Marketing Manager - Global Fund to Fight Disease – Temporary 16 month Contract – Work from Home with occasional travel to Geneva – £500 day rate – start asap

My client is a globally recognised not for profit institution designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria as epidemics. They mobilise and invest more than US$4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries.

Whether it be the distribution of bed nets to protect families from malaria in Honduras, training youth peer counsellors who will help other teens diagnosed as HIV-positive in South Africa or providing equipment for the diagnosis of tuberculosis to clinics in Kazakhstan, country-driven programs to fight the pandemics receive funding.

My client is now seeking a Senior Communications & Marketing Manager with senior level experience in devising and running global campaigns. You will be working predominantly from home with occasional travel to Geneva. This is an 18-month temporary contract until the end of 2022. You will be expected to provide direction, establish and lead a dynamic, creative and highly coordinated cross-functional team that is primarily focused on influencing external audiences to achieve positioning, influencing and resource mobilization objectives in an increasingly challenging funding environment.

The Manager is accountable for strengthening the brand and delivering inspiring content and creative activations that prioritize engagement; conceptualizing and executing high profile global campaigns; and influencing audiences through a range of donor-driven PR strategies that leverage multiple channels (social media, traditional media), influencers and events to maximize visibility and engagement with the GF.

As such the role requires senior level global project experience including devising and running complex, global, multi territory integrated campaigns, significant experience in international strategic brand marketing and communications, including brand management, awareness, communications and marketing campaigns, work on corporate branding projects including policy and strategy. This can be private or public sector. Any experience in the international charitable/nfp, humanitarian or health awareness sector is helpful, but not essential.

As a senior member of the External Relations and Communications team, and reporting to the Head, Communications, the Senior Manager strategically oversees and elevates the capability of the Global Fund in the following areas:

  • The Creative Design Studio - develops inspiring audio-visual content, branded products, and marketing collateral in line with brand standards
  • Marketing - strengthens and promotes the GF brand; develops marketing tools to strengthen donor pitches
  • Campaigns and events - creates and executes priority campaigns leveraging multiple channels and influencers to generate public exposure and delivers major public events and conferences in alignment with the GF brand
  • Collaborate with the External Relations and Communications Leadership Team to shape and implement the GF’s external communications strategy in support of the organization’s primary goals.
  • Play an active role in the management of the Communications department
  • Is responsible for the nurturing and strengthening of the GF brand and for delivering inspiring content and creative activations for multiple audiences
  • Conceptualizes and oversees the execution of sustained and measurable high-profile campaigns and communications strategies aimed at promoting the mission and messages of the GF and engaging key external audiences, leveraging a wide range of advocates and influencers, in close collaboration with the PR team and in alignment with resource mobilization and partnerships priorities
  • Designs and oversees the execution of events to maximize visibility and engagement with the GF and to sustain the global commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria
  • Develops and nurtures key relationships and partnerships including with media outlets, agencies and high-profile advocates to advance the GF positioning, including securing pro-bono services and advertising space
  • Develops and monitors performance related KPIs to drive improvement and impact
  • Is responsible for annual planning and budgeting, financial management and key reporting processes related to Marketing and Creative Direction
  • Leads and develops a high performing team of talented professionals across brand, creative content, marketing and events as well as a network of consultants and external agencies
  • Deputize for the Head of Communications as appropriate

Specific requirements of the role:

  • Senior level global project experience either gained in-house or agency side
  • Most importantly experience in devising and running complex, global, multi territory integrated campaigns
  • Ideally a mix of private and nonprofit experience
  • Exp in managing large projects including teams and external agencies
  • Excellent diplomatic and collaborative skills
  • Drive for results, adaptability and resilience
  • Strong global / complex campaign experience
  • Strong project and people management
