Management Today’s Staff Writer will be responsible for writing features, analysis and columns for Management Today online and in print, as well as hosting interview and panel sessions at our live events. They report to the editor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and write interviews, columns, features, news and analysis for the website, to deadline, using the HAI dashboard and MT’s content priorities to inform decisions
  • Research and write features and interview for the magazine
  • Build and maintain a contacts book of CEOs, founders, executive coaches and PRs to support future features
  • Build and send MT’s daily and weekly bulletins, including choosing which secondary content goes on and liaising with content labs team
  • Manage Management Today’s social media activity
  • Develop an understanding of business strategy, leadership and workplace issues
  • Commission guest authors for the website on an ad hoc basis
  • Attend relevant events and read widely across competitors for ideas
  • Chair panels, conduct interviews and introduce sessions in live events

Experience, skills & attributes

  • At least two years experience of business journalism
  • Ability to write interviews, columns and web features to an excellent standard
  • Ability to find fresh, creative angles for evergreen topics
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a way that is credible to a senior business leader
  • Ability to grasp complex strategic issues and understand stories in the wider financial and economic news
  • Display the initiative, judgement and autonomy necessary to seek out and find impactful stories without needing to be directed
  • Ability to contribute towards discussions around editorial strategy
