C-Capture designs world-leading chemical processes for the capture of carbon dioxide.
C-Capture has patented a unique, solvent-based technology which offers a safe, low-cost way to remove carbon dioxide from emissions using a post-combustion capture approach. Our technology can help deliver the carbon emission reductions which are essential if we are to avoid the worst impacts of the currently unfolding climate crisis.
C-Capture was founded in 2009 as a spin-out from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Leeds, and recent investors include IP Group, Drax, and BP Ventures. Since the summer of 2018, we have expanded the team from 5 to 21, including a crop of extremely talented recent chemistry and engineering graduates who have quickly established themselves as key members of the technical team. The business systems support team is also expanding as we transition from a mostly R&D based organisation to one on a firmly commercial footing, as we work to deploy our unique technology across a broad range of industrial sectors.
This job position is part of the company growth strategy to expand the commercial team, to ensure visibility for C-Capture’s award-winning technology.
C-Capture are looking for an enthusiastic individual to take the lead on communications and PR for C-Capture.
- Building strong relationships and networks with colleagues, external stakeholders and the media, and answering enquiries from media and other organisations.
- Monitoring media, including papers, industry magazines, social media sites and blogs, to stay up to date with CCS news.
- Collating and analysing media coverage.
- Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media.
- Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies, ensuring the benefits of C-Capture’s technology are communicated to relevant external stakeholders.
- Writing and editing in-house comms documents.
- Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia content.
- Devising photo opportunities and coordinating studio or location photography.
- Organising events (such as site visits, interviews and press opportunities).
- Maintaining and updating information on C-Capture’s website.
- Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Linkedin.
- Supporting the Business Development Manager in market research.
- Fostering good stakeholder relations through involvement in events.

Salary competitive depending on experience.
16 - 24 hours per week. Flexibility to work from home or in the C-Capture office in Leeds as required. You may have to travel occasionally to attend networking events and exhibitions.
The role would suit someone with a degree or HND in communications / PR / marketing with a strong interest in science and climate change, or a science graduate with a keen interest in public engagement and communications.
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a communications role in academia, science or industry.
