Communications and Engagement Officer
Starting salary up to circa. £37,000
Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn
We are looking for a communications professional to join our team who has the ability and experience to drive communications and engagement, leading and undertaking specific communications and engagement programmes to support service transformation and to promote our corporate strategy. With new projects and initiatives underway and town deal funding being secured, now is an exciting time to be joining the team.
You will be working as part of creative and innovative team to deliver a wide range of communications to both residents, businesses, members and staff, as well as delivering public engagement activities to support transformation. Under the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for planning, managing and delivering communications and engagement activity. We are looking for people who have a wide range of communications and engagement skills, from writing engaging copy and skills in storytelling, to understanding social media, engagement and consultation skills and an ability to brief in design work to the in-house design team.
You will provide a professional and effective communications service, in particular supporting the Communications Manager with a press office service. You will develop enhanced communications with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will develop and implement an engagement strategy and be involved in responding to media enquiries, writing press releases and producing materials for a range of campaigns, events and projects.
You will hold a relevant degree-level communications-related qualification and at least three years’ related work experience, ideally in the public sector. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of researching and writing for a variety of media. You will also have experience of handling media enquiries and experience of developing the Councils approach to engagement, providing specialise advice. You must be able to plan your workload effectively and be able to produce jargon-free material to tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
