We’re looking for experienced communication professionals who can build relations, provide strategic counsel, and seek out the best stories that demonstrate our research excellence and innovations to our external audiences.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, but embedded in one of our three academic faculties, you’ll be the communications expert who can advise our academics on the best way to tell their stories, and how to influence key audiences across the range of communication disciplines from news media to newsletter nib, from public event to personal message. It will involve leading and shaping multi-channel campaigns to providing best practice guidance.

As a key intermediary between the faculty and the central communications team, you’ll be the ‘go to’ on what’s happening in that faculty and who’s who. Being a confident leader who can act on one’s own initiative within a framework is essential. Relationship building and networking are key to this role too so that our academics know who to go for communications advice and help. You’ll also work closely with the faculty’s leadership team, supporting the Executive Dean with their communications.

You’ll be a great storyteller who can write for any audience and know a good story when you see one. You’ll also be used to drafting communication plans, maintaining a communication planner and prioritising work based on strategic communication objectives.

It’s a great time to join us. We have just launched our new institutional strategy for the next three years, we have a new communication strategy and new look Communications, Public Affairs and Events team to help deliver it of which you will be an important part.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working in a range of communication disciplines and be used to working with senior stakeholders giving them communications counsel. You will need to demonstrate your experience of forging and managing good working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, being inclusive, acting with integrity and being a good collaborator.
