The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) are delighted to be recruiting for a Press Officer to work within the Communications Team.
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 6,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the upmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.
The Communications Team makes a vital contribution to our work. The more the public understand our role and trust the decisions we make, the more likely they are to support prosecutions as victims or witnesses.
Our Press Officers promote the work of the CPS to the public through the media and provide advice to CPS staff on media and presentational issues. You will deliver high quality, proactive and reactive media handling and effective communications campaigns that are integrated across our channels. The Press Office Team cover a broad range of important issues, including terrorism, hate crime, cyber crime and sexual offences. You’ll help us provide a 24-hour, 365-day service to the media – for which an allowance and overtime is payable.
At the CPS we pride ourselves on providing a variety of benefits that ensure our employees’ requirements are at the core. This includes wellbeing support, flexible working, civil service pension scheme, access to employee savings including high street retailer offers and discounts and 25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service.
If you have previous experience in journalism or a press office/public relations role and a passion for criminal justice, you could be a real asset to our team. Find out more about this exciting opportunity and apply today.
