Reporter - PR Week

Job Details

PRWeek is looking for a reporter to cover the PR Industry, encompassing diverse areas like pop-culture, influencers, politics, big brands and sport. As well as writing news there is also the opportunity to write longer pieces like news analysis, interviews and features (e.g. 'Is Love Island killing influencers?' or 'How is the PR industry dealing with the cost of living?'). You'll also get under the skin of a fascinating industry by breaking industry news stories, analysing big trends (like remote working, salaries and diversity), contributing to our podcast and keeping our readers up to speed on everything going on in the world of PR.

PRWeek, which launched in the UK as a print magazine in 1981, is now a global digital media platform with UK, US and Asian editions. We cover current events, from pop culture to politics, through a public relations, communications and reputational lens. It’s the world’s leading business media brand for PR and comms professionals. We are looking for a reporter to join our award-winning editorial team.

In terms of experience, you may have recently graduated, or have little career experience, so far. But if you should be able demonstrate a commitment to a career in journalism. And if you are interested in how people and businesses in the public eye handle their reputations, and you can discuss who you think does it well and who does it terribly (and why) we’d like to hear from you. We'd also like to hear from you if you work for a PR agency but originally wanted to be a journalist, or if you'd like to explore making a change.

You will be an energetic self-starter who enjoys hunting down and standing up big news stories. You will work closely with other journalists on the team to break exclusive news. Gathering and reporting news is a huge part of the role.

However, there is scope for the successful applicant to be involved in our social media activity, as well as writing interviews, investigative features and longreads, and news analysis articles, comment pieces and picture-led galleries.

We are also increasingly taking advantage of the many ways our readers consume what we do. Haymarket has just completed a new production studio on the ground floor, where video content and podcasts will be produced for PRWeek, and there will be an opportunity to get involved.

Further details below - we look forward to hearing from you.
